Terms of Use
Clear rules for sharing tasks, shopping and expenses with your group.
Last updated: 17 August 2026 · Version 2026-08-17.1
These terms govern Tokarea’s collaborative features. When you create a group or join one for the first time, you confirm that you accept these Terms of Use and have read the Privacy Policy.
Tokarea is distributed on iOS under Apple’s Standard End User Licence Agreement (Standard EULA). These terms supplement that licence by governing the service and shared content; they do not replace or extend the app licence, limit any rights granted to you by Apple or the EULA, or reduce any mandatory consumer rights. If there is a conflict, the EULA applies to the matters it governs, and applicable mandatory law always takes precedence.
Who provides the service
Alfonso González Ariza provides Tokarea and handles service-related enquiries at support@tokarea.com.
Tokarea lets people organise shared groups accessed with an invitation code. The app does not act as a payment intermediary or hold money: expenses and balances are informational records and calculations for the group.
Technical account and optional sign-in
Tokarea creates a pseudonymous technical account so that you can use the free group features without mandatory sign-up. You may voluntarily link Apple, Google or an address verified with a one-time code to recover that same account or use it on another device. Protecting the account is required before buying Tokarea Pro so that a restored purchase cannot be confused with another account. Linking does not create a new group or replace the existing technical account.
You must keep the linked sign-in method under your control. Do not share verification codes or let another person use your session. Unlinking a method is not the same as deleting the account; full deletion is performed from Privacy and data and has the consequences explained in the Privacy Policy.
Tokarea Pro and store purchases
Tokarea Pro unlocks the features identified as Pro in the purchase screen, including adding or replacing private shopping-list photos. Adding chat photos is free and is not part of Tokarea Pro. The entitlement belongs to the technical account that buys it and is also enjoyed in groups where that account is a member, without revealing who pays. If that account leaves a group or loses Pro, the group stops inheriting it unless another member account has Pro. Removing a shopping photo remains available; copies already downloaded may remain visible on their devices, while the service may deliver the encrypted file for up to 30 days after preparation and then keeps it inaccessible and queues it for asynchronous physical deletion with retries if deletion fails.
Before confirmation, Tokarea shows the product and billing period, and the Apple App Store or Google Play purchase sheet shows the final price and applicable taxes. The information in that sheet prevails for the specific transaction. Monthly and yearly are auto-renewable subscriptions. “Forever” is a one-time, non-consumable purchase with no expiry while Tokarea continues to operate the service, always subject to applicable mandatory rights.
Where Apple or Google Play states that an account is eligible, the monthly or yearly plan may start with a 7-day free trial. At the end of the trial it automatically becomes the selected subscription and the store charges the price shown before confirmation. To avoid the first charge, cancel through Apple subscription management at least 24 hours before the trial ends, or through Google Play before the trial ends. The store determines eligibility; if its purchase sheet does not show the trial, it does not apply.
Subscriptions continue and are charged for each period until cancelled through the store where you subscribed. Cancellation prevents future renewals and access continues until the paid period ends. After reinstalling or changing device, first recover the same protected Tokarea account and tap “Restore purchases” with the Apple ID or Google Play account used to buy. Do not buy again if activation remains pending. Deleting or uninstalling Tokarea, leaving a group or deleting the technical account does not itself cancel a store subscription.
Where consumer law gives you a right of withdrawal, the initial purchase may be withdrawn within 14 calendar days from entering into the contract. The relevant store sets out the operational routes in its receipt and terms; Apple includes “Report a Problem”, while Google Play provides its order and refund support. The exception for digital content or services can apply only when performance has begun following an express request and express consent, with acknowledgement that the right will be lost; accepting these Terms does not by itself amount to that request, consent or waiver. Refunds and other billing issues are handled by the store and may remove the Pro entitlement.
Age and authorisation
Tokarea is intended for adults. To create and manage an account independently, you must be at least 14; a child under that age may use it only with the authorisation and supervision of a parent or guardian.
If you are under 18, you may make a purchase only where you have sufficient legal capacity or valid authorisation from a parent or guardian. Apple or Google Play family-purchase and approval options may also apply under their own terms.
Your content and permissions
You retain ownership and any other rights you have in the names, messages, tasks, lists, photos, notes, descriptions and other content you enter. You must have the rights or authorisation needed to share it with the group.
To operate Tokarea, you grant a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, organise, synchronise and display that content to the group’s devices; perform the requested calculations; send enabled notifications; create necessary technical copies and backups; and allow the providers named in the Privacy Policy to perform those operations on behalf of the service.
By sharing content, you also allow other people in the group to view it and, through Tokarea’s collaborative features, complete, edit or delete it. Do not share anything you do not want the group to be able to change.
These permissions last while the content remains in an active group and for the technical period needed to implement its deletion, replace backups, or address a claim or applicable obligation. They do not authorise the use of your content for advertising or its sale.
Shared content and deletion
What you add to a group is shared with its participants, but not all of it is retained when the account is deleted. Where Tokarea can verify authorship, it deletes messages, tasks, shopping items and activity created by that account and queues associated photos that are no longer needed for deletion. Expense and payment records retain only their accounting effect and a generic description, without an authorship link. Assignments and point movements needed to preserve the ranking are also retained without that link, but any free-text note in a bonus attributable to the account is deleted. The necessary numerical history and older rows whose authorship cannot be established may remain as group information, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
The name and structure of a shared group, its teams and the identities of other people may remain so that the group continues to work. Any authorship link to the deleted account is removed; the identity linked to it is anonymised as “Deleted participant” and cannot be claimed again.
Operational copies and backups are replaced according to their technical cycles. Content from a group with no other account that has access is deleted from the active service as described in the Privacy Policy.
Responsible use
- Do not post illegal content, content that infringes third-party rights, or content you are not authorised to share.
- Do not use Tokarea to harass, threaten, discriminate, deceive, impersonate another person or share abusive content.
- Do not enter passwords, bank details, medical information or other particularly sensitive data in messages, tasks, photos, shopping items, notes or expenses.
- Protect the invitation code: anyone who has it can confirm that they wish to join the group and then see its content.
- Do not try to bypass security measures, interfere with the service or use it in a way that harms other people.
Removal and complaints
Tokarea normalises and checks shared text before saving it and may reject wording that matches limited patterns associated with serious risk. This preventive measure cannot interpret every context and is not a substitute for reviewing a report.
You can report a task, shopping item or expense using “Report a problem” on its detail screen, and a message by long-pressing it and choosing “Report message”. Choose a reason where one is shown and add a short comment only if needed. The app returns a TKR-… reference; the report is private and is not shown to the group. A reported message is hidden locally on the reporting device but is not removed or hidden from the rest of the group before review. To report a participant’s conduct or another issue, open Settings → Help and legal → Report a problem or email support@tokarea.com. Do not send the invitation code or more personal data than necessary.
Reports are reviewed by an authorised person and in a proportionate way. After checking the context, Tokarea may keep the content, temporarily withdraw it, restore it, permanently remove it, or apply the technically available access measures where necessary to comply with the law, protect people or respond to a breach. If you report a shopping item or message with a photo and the device can still retrieve and decrypt that revision, the app tells you before submission that, once the report is confirmed, it may provide the case with a separate, sanitised JPEG copy that Tokarea can decrypt and review. This is context supplied by the reporting device, not cryptographic proof that it matches the exact content of the ordinary file. That evidence may be retained while the case is open or under review; once 90 days have elapsed after closure it enters the asynchronous physical-deletion queue, with retries if deletion fails. It does not extend the ordinary encrypted file’s 30-day period, and the report remains valid without an image if the device can no longer recover it.
Any active member can block and remove from the group an account that already has a linked identity. This measure revokes its access, changes the invitation code and prevents that account from rejoining until the block is lifted. Lifting it does not restore access automatically: the person will need the current code. Tokarea may also suspend a technical account globally in cases of serious or repeated abuse, without preventing the person from requesting deletion of their account.
Availability and changes
Synchronisation, notifications and updates depend on the connection and technical providers. We will try to resolve interruptions, but these terms do not promise that the service will be available without interruption or error.
If the terms change materially, the displayed date and version will be updated. Tokarea may request renewed acceptance before you create or join another group, without abruptly closing groups that are already open on the device.
Conformity and liability
Tokarea remains responsible for a lack of conformity of the digital service and for loss that is legally attributable to it, as required by mandatory law. If you identify a problem, contact Support so that it can be investigated and, where applicable, remedied.
To the extent permitted by law, Tokarea is not liable for loss that is not caused by a breach attributable to the service, for decisions group members make based on calculations that are organisational only, or for content and actions of other participants. Nothing in this section excludes or limits non-waivable consumer rights or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Spanish law, without depriving you of any mandatory protections that apply to you as a consumer in your country of habitual residence.
Any dispute will be heard by the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable mandatory rules, including rules that protect the consumer’s place of jurisdiction. These Terms do not impose a different exclusive court. You may contact Support before making a claim so that we can try to resolve it, but this does not limit your right to use the competent authority or procedure.
